Lake Vouglans is located on Jura’s
first
plateau (alt 429m) between Orgelet and
Moirans en Montagne. With a length of
35 km and an average width of 450m,
it is France’s third largest artificial lake.
The lake is divided into three zones:
• Zone A, essentially for fishing.
• Zone B, reserved for “high speed water
sports such as jet skiing and water-skiing.
• Zone C, the area for the more gentle
water sports such as sailing, canoeing
and rowing.
The lake has three extensive beaches
which are developed and supervised:
Mercantine, Bellecin and Surchauffant.
